I’m getting too old to work in a place that isn’t healthy and enjoyable, the singer declared. ”.
Kelly Clarkson’s reasons for relocating her talk show to New York City are becoming clearer with each passing day.
The singer, 41, revealed during an interview with Nancy O’Dell on TalkShopLive on Thursday that she and her children, including son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7, and daughter River Rose, 8, needed the change for The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“I’m glad you asked because I haven’t had many opportunities to talk about this. I communicated with my team as early as January. I said, “You guys,” and I started crying because I’ve built a team with such an amazing group of people, she said of the show, which will launch its fifth season this fall and was recently renewed through 2025.
“We’ve had a lot of success, and I enjoy working with everyone because our relationships are so great. I called them to let them know what was happening as a result, continued Clarkson. She said, “I have to go to the East Coast, or I can’t continue the show.”.
She continued, “Covid made the point that it is not good for anyone to be alone and so far away from their family. “And my family is from the East Coast; they’re from North Carolina. I had to do it because I had to deal with a lot of personal issues at the time. ”.
Clarkson had two kids with Brandon Blackstock, whom she divorced in 2020 after a little over seven years of marriage.
Although Clarkson acknowledged that things are still being ironed out in the background on an emotional and professional level, she added that part of her motivation for making the move was to avoid working in an environment that was “unhealthy. ”.
I’m getting too old to work in a place that isn’t happy and healthy, she said. I had to do that for years in meetings and occasionally had to deal with people who were extremely cruel, so I didn’t want to do it anymore. I temporarily switch between concentrating on the talk show and other tasks while doing so.”.
The working environment of the talk show made headlines earlier this month after a Rolling Stone article claimed that producers “overworked” and “underpaid” the crew members, who claimed that “working at the show was traumatizing to their mental health.”.”.
In a response to the allegations, Clarkson wrote on Instagram: “In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I’ve always led with my heart and what I felt to be right. It is unacceptable for me to learn that someone feels ignored or insulted on The Kelly Clarkson Show because I adore the cast and crew. ”.
“I have always been committed to creating and maintaining a secure and positive environment at The Kelly Clarkson Show, and I will remain so. As we prepare to relocate to the East Coast, I am more determined than ever to ensure that our team that is moving and our new team in New York are the best and kindest in the business. ”.
