A couple from North Carolina recently welcomed their first child after trying to conceive since they were married in 2008. Susie, 50, and Tony Troxler, 61, welcomed a baby girl in September 2021 after more than ten years of trying to conceive.

It was a no, they said, and you’re going to need a lot of help instead.
“They always said it nicely, but at the end of the day, when you take away all of the official medical jargon, it was a no,” Susie said. The couple now has a 2-month-old despite all the obstacles they faced.

Screenshot Like the majority of couples, Susie and her husband “assumed” they would become parents soon after their wedding, but “one year turned into two, then three, but when it got to be nine, 10, and 11 years, we were like, something is up, and I’m not sure what it is.”. The Greensboro, North Carolina, couple dealt with a number of health issues. “I had uterine fibroids in abundance. Tony and I couldn’t have a baby because I was too old and because Tony had some health problems, she said. Although it’s not impossible, getting pregnant later in life has risks.

Preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and the likelihood of necessitating a cesarean delivery all significantly increase when you become pregnant in your 50s. The Troxlers visited a fertility clinic where doctors tried various methods to aid the couple in getting pregnant. We were down to our last embryo and none of that worked, Susie said. On September 29, their daughter Lily was born. “They bring me into the ultrasound, and the first thing they said was, ‘Oh, she’s moving!’ I was like, “Yes!”.

Happy 1 week, Baby-Girl! Posted by Susie Troxler on October 6, 2021. A week ago today, we welcomed the love of our lives, Lily.

“I cherish her so much. I catch myself simply staring at her every time I look at her. Tony exclaimed, “It’s amazing.

“We are overjoyed. Despite being exhausted, it was well worth it. Susie called the infant “a miracle.”.
