After 26 operations in 10 years, the WWE legend spoke candidly about prioritizing his health in the most recent “Gym and Fridge” video for “Men’s Health.”.
Hulk Hogan has a new, optimistic outlook since he officially retired in 2012.
The 69-year-old WWE legend spoke about giving up alcohol in the most recent Men’s Health “Gym & Fridge” video, remembering his earlier wrestling days when he would consume “three Miller Lites and two Tylenol” before a match and “probably 12 Miller Lites” afterwards.
He told the source that it had been six months since his last alcoholic beverage and that he didn’t drink any alcohol at all.
It became a way to temporarily numb him, he admitted, because he was dealing with a lot of stressful personal and professional issues. “I also became aware that I was abusing alcohol too recklessly after my workouts. I simply had to stop because of this.
Hogan only eats organic food these days and only drinks water. He acknowledged that he was not “educated in terms of quality of food” when he was younger and that he is now learning what is best to keep him going.
He pledges to keep going to the gym and cutting weight as he approaches his 70th birthday. Hogan claims he has already lost 40 pounds and is still going after it because of lifestyle changes after wrestling took a toll on his body.
About fifteen years ago, my body kind of gave out on me. After having multiple knee operations and wrestling for almost 40 years, my body finally gave out on me, he claimed.
“I only had one back surgery, but it turned out I needed ten back surgeries. Both of the knees had to be replaced. Both hips were altered. As a result of having my orbital socket broken twice, I’ve had two facial surgeries. And in the end, it required 25 or 26 procedures over the course of ten to twelve years, plus a few more.
“As a result, it altered the game for me. As a result, everything for me changed,” claimed Hogan. “And I changed my entire way of life because I could no longer support that much weight at the time, as well as because I was aging and in so much pain. When you don’t exercise regularly, don’t wrestle, and don’t move around much, it is easy to gain weight. I decided to start dieting so I could get down to about 265 pounds. ”.
Hogan asserted that he is feeling much better, eating better, and working out frequently since giving his health a high priority.
“You know, I feel amazing,” he said to the newspaper. Without all the extras, you actually feel alive because a little bit of pain makes you realize you’re alive. ”.
