A 19-year-old singer named Somer Smith was both thrilled and terrified to learn she had been selected to participate in The Voice: Australia blind auditions. She had only ever performed in front of her family before. She was about to take the stage in front of illustrious judges Joe Jonas, Kelly Rowland, Boy George, and Delta Goodrem on live television.
Even though she is terrified, Somer is determined to face her worries and follow her passion. She only wants to turn one of the judges’ chairs during the pre-audition interview. She auditioned with an old gospel song from 1905 called “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.”. “.
Somer enters the stage and appears to be nervous. While she takes a moment to collect herself, the judges can tell she is anxious. Somer’s voice starts out timidly, but soon becomes louder and more confident.
The moment Somer’s voice is heard, coach Delta Goodrem pushes the button to turn her chair in response to its strength and talent. Boy George and Kelly Rowland quickly turn their chairs in the same direction, and Joe Jonas is not far behind.
The audience starts cheering as Somer’s powerful voice fills the room. She clearly pours her soul and heart into her performance and completely loses herself in the song. The judges watch this young girl put everything on the line in an almost reverent manner.
Both the audience and all four judges give Somer a standing ovation after she finishes. In an effort to convince her to join their team, the judges all give her glowing recommendations and trade jabs.
She hears Delta say, “We’ve just found a star in you. “.
Joe Jonas claims, “Your voice is why I joined this show. “Your tone was lovely and quite firm right away. “.
Once all of the judges have spoken, the audience claps in unison. She had hoped that just one judge would flip a chair for her, but all four did. She now faced a decision. Somer ultimately made the decision to join Team Kelly.
