Raquel Welch was one of the most stunning women of the 1960s.
She was born in the year 1940. Her father was a Bolivian engineer, while her mother was of English ancestry.
Raquel attended ballet lessons as a child, but her coach informed her she didn’t have what it takes to be a professional ballerina.
Perhaps her coach was correct, and his suggestions helped her win numerous beauty pageants. She has repeatedly stated that she does not want an average life but one resembling a princess in a fairy tale.
Raquel married at 18 and had two children, but in 1961 she divorced her husband and fled to Texas with her children.
She concluded that she couldn’t achieve her aim of being a world-famous celebrity in Texas, so she moved to Hollywood in 1963, where she met her future husband, press officer Patrick Curtis. He became not only her husband but also her manager.
He took Raquel on a tour of Europe to meet with many significant people. Raquel rose to fame despite never appearing in a film, but her husband eventually got her some jobs.
During the 1970s, Welch acted in several films and had her television show, Raquel!, which featured songs, dance routines, and cameos by Bob Hope, John Wayne, and Tom Jones.
Raquel didn’t stop there, either. She wrote a book, made yoga videos, and started a wig company. The Hottest Women of All Time made a list in 2013.
Raquel had four marriages and two children from her first marriage. Raquel stated that while none of her romances lasted long, she was always in love and believed the connection would endure forever.
