It is difficult to picture A-list celebrities as struggling artists when one thinks of them. But everybody must begin somewhere. especially if their parents are not already well-known. Before their names became well-known, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were close friends. By opening a joint bank account, they were able to support each other financially as aspiring actors in need of support.

Benjamin Affleck and Matt Damon.

On October 8, 1970, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Matt Damon was born. Contrary to what you might have thought, his parents were not actors. Instead, he was raised by a family of educators. His mother was a professor at Boston University, and his father taught at Lesley University. Matt, the youngest of four children, attended both Cambridge Alternative School and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He spent a lot of time participating in school plays and the basketball team.

California’s Berkeley was the place of Ben Affleck’s birth on August 15, 1972. When he was young, his parents got divorced, and he later moved to Massachusetts with his mother and brother. His school of choice was Cambridge Rindge and Latin. He played basketball as much as Matt did. They quickly grew close, though, and they enjoyed acting in school plays together.

They set up a joint bank account.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck first interacted when they were eight years old. The two quickly grew close. They have remained close throughout their ascent to fame and remain so today. They opened a bank account in high school, which they shared as aspiring actors after they graduated. It was done to make sure they could pay their bills while looking for acting jobs. As long as one of us had money, we knew the power wasn’t going to get shut off, Matt Damon said while appearing as a guest on “The Bill Simmons Podcast”.

A small fee was paid to Matt Doman in 1993 for a small part in a film. They were free to look for acting work with that amount of money without having to worry about how they would pay their bills. He recalled, “I remember after doing ‘Geronimo,’ fuck, I probably had $35k in my checking account and I was like we’re good. “We have enough for a year”.

The funds in their joint bank account were initially intended to cover travel expenses for trips to New York for castings and auditions. But as they got older, it began to shift toward other things. Matt said, “You were permitted to use the money to travel to New York.”. You could withdraw $10, buy quarters, go to the arcade, and play video games. We were eventually given the opportunity to try and purchase beer, but it never fucking worked”.

Looking back, Matt Damon found it odd.

When they were struggling financially before they both won Oscars, Matt Damon thought it was odd that they had a joint bank account. Damon asserts that they might have succeeded if they had it, though. They were close friends who wished to help one another. And so they did. Matt Damon said, “We were going to support each other and help each other”.

The shared bank account was no longer necessary as their reputation in the acting world grew. They ended up writing a movie together and have since both won Oscars. Ben Fleck did, however, make a noteworthy revelation. The checkbook they used for the account, he said, is still in his possession. Affleck stated, “I still have the checkbook.”. “I’m curious if it would work”.
