The Bollywood actor Ranjit Chowdhry, who starred in The Office’s fourth and fifth seasons in the United States, passed away at 64.
As per the Hours of India, the New York-based entertainer ventured out to India recently for dental consideration. He had planned to return to the United States on April 8, but lockdowns caused by the coronavirus prevented him from doing so.
According to Indian theatrical star Dolly Thakore, Chowdhry underwent emergency surgery in Mumbai on April 14 after developing a perforated ulcer in his bowel. He passed away the following morning at 4 a.m. Thakore claims a funeral was held this week with close family members present. On May 5, Chowdhry’s life will be remembered.
Chowdhry’s half-sister Raell Padamsee verified the information on her Instagram account.
In the latter part of the 1970s, Chowdhry made his acting debut in Bollywood films. After writing and starring in the 1991 Canadian film Sam & Me, in which a young Indian immigrant forms an odd connection with an elderly Jewish man, Chowdhry received numerous acting opportunities in the United States.
Among these were roles in US dramas like Prison Break and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where she played Vikram, a telemarketer, in Seasons 4 and 5 of NBC’s The Office. SVU.
He additionally showed up in Sovereign Latifah’s 2006 sentiment parody Last Occasion.
Bollywood actor Rahul Khanna led tributes to Chowdhry following his death.
“It makes me extremely upset to learn of #RanjitChowdhry’s passing,” he added. ” He was a towering icon and a master of Indian diaspora cinema, despite his diminutive stature. One of the most endearingly weird and acerbically funny people I’ve ever met. an authentic original!”
According to his Twitter account, Andy Buckley, who played David Wallace in The Office, passed away in India. India’s Ranjit Chowdhry is a writer. He played Vikram on The Office. He was perfect on the show and a decent person. Rest in peace, Ranjit [sic].
“This guy made magic out of nothing, filling paper-thin roles with such depth,” says actor Poorna Jagannathan. When I was with him, I saw my dad had a similar funny bone, relentlessness, and virtuoso. My friend, you have broken my heart. RIP.”
