A woman who thought she was expecting twins revealed her amazement at giving birth to quintuplets instead.
Oksana Kobeletska of Ukraine went from being a single mother to having six children in less than a day after giving birth by C-section in Odesa to three boys and two girls.
Her husband and she, who already have a three-year-old daughter, expressed their delight at the arrival of their twins.
But the 37-year-old mother, who had eight doctors and nurses on standby for the delivery on June 24, said she hadn’t expected it. “I was startled since I had believed I was expecting twins or anything like that,” she explained. “No one in our family has ever experienced this. There was not one incident like this.
“I didn’t expect it and had never expected it in general.”
The couple’s infants are Denis, Dariya, Vladislav, Oleksandra, and David.
Officials gave them a 100-square-meter home after their five new arrivals.
“I can’t imagine how tough it will be to raise so many children simultaneously,” she continued.
Oksana and her children are doing well in the hospital and will be discharged once they weigh more than two kilogrammes (4.4 lbs).
In other baby news, a London hospital believes it has found a way to reduce the frequency of cot mortality… It also includes the placement of babies in cardboard boxes.
The Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in west London is the first in the country to provide parents with free heavy-duty cardboard cribs.
The hospital has even supplied the box bed with newborn baby necessities, including diapers, clothing, and other conditions.
Since the program’s inception, 800 new moms have been given a baby box containing a firm foam mattress, a waterproof mattress cover, and a cotton sheet.
Until the end of the month, the cribs will be given on a first-served basis.
