When Haley, Kassidy, and Sierra got to Valley High School in Las Vegas, they didn’t seem to care about going to class.
To adults in positions of authority, such as teachers, counselors, and other adults, the triplets had defensive responses. They kept in touch, regularly skipped class, and received poor grades.
The triplets were accepted into the GEAR UP Program at Valley High School rather than being turned away.
The GEAR UP program is one of the provisions of the Higher Education Act of the federal government that helps low-income students learn, get motivated, and get ready for success in postsecondary education.
The triplets advanced as far as they felt comfortable with the GEAR UP team.
And lastly, they disclosed their terrible situation, which was even worse than anyone could have imagined.
The triplets’ mother died when they were just three years old. Their father had been incarcerated since they were in sixth grade.
When Sierra, Kassidy, and Haley moved in with their grandmother, they frequently went without food. She didn’t believe in education, so they didn’t begin going until they were eight years old.
When their father was released from prison, they moved back in with him. However, he would leave the young girls for days at a time.
When a shooting took place inside their home while he was away, the daughters were finally removed from their father’s custody.
The triplets moved in with their callous grandparents. The triplets spent a portion of their lives without access to housing, food, clothing, or transportation.
The girls’ GEAR UP instructors, however, helped them overcome losing both of their parents and being homeless.
Then, things started to get much better.
The girls persevered and put forth the effort necessary to finish high school!
All three of the girls completed difficult coursework, took part in extracurricular activities, and worked as “unaccompanied minors” while maintaining GPAs above 3.00. ”.
However, things didn’t stop there.
The FOX5 Surprise Squad stepped in at the graduation ceremony and shocked the girls.
Due to their amazing story of survival, the FOX5 Surprise Squad secretly attended their wedding.
The Yeckes Triplets are taken aside in the video below after receiving their degrees. and the greatest surprise gift ever is presented to them in front of the entire school.
The Yeckes Triplets overcame being abandoned and experiencing homelessness while both parents were gone.
This is such a wonderful story, and I’m praying for them to receive even more blessings.
