Before Mother’sMother’s Day, Chuck Norris, a legendary figure in Hollywood, praised his 100-year-old mother for having a significant, steadfast impact on his life.
“My mother has prayed for me constantly throughout my life. My birth was nearly fatal due to complications. When I was about to lose my soul to Hollywood a few decades ago, she was back home praying for my success and salvation. Norris continued, “She even prayed for me to meet a woman who would change my life.
Norris shared some biographical information to demonstrate the seemingly insurmountable challenges his mother overcame.
“My mother, Wilma Norris Knight, was born in the small town of Wilson, Oklahoma, where I was raised. I reckon 1,800 people were living there at its peak. “.
“The first half of my mother’smother’s life was difficult. She was adopted as a state ward when she was eight years old after being raised in poverty. She spent two years living away from her family in a children’schildren’s hospital receiving treatment for a rare illness. “.
When she started feeling better a few years later, she had already experienced the Great Depression. To make ends meet, her entire family—even the young kids—used to work picking cotton in fields. “.
“They frequently moved to another town to choose another field after finishing one they had already chosen. The Great Depression’s final decade was particularly difficult for people living in the Dust Bowl.”.
“Mom married my father when she was 16 but was dumped, leaving her to raise her three boys by herself. I frequently had to step in for my absent father because I was the oldest. We were as poor as church mice, but that also gave me the strength to face life’slife’s difficulties. “.
“My mother has always been a role model of fortitude and faith. Of her original family of 11, only she is still alive. Along with losing my younger brother Wieland in the Vietnam War, she also lost two spouses, a stepson, two grandsons, and a stepson. “.
“She has battled cancer multiple times and undergone close to 30 surgeries for various illnesses, yet she is still alive today. “.
Norris mother celebrated her 100th birthday right before Mother’sMother’s Day this year.
