Phil Collins, the renowned Genesis drummer, and lead singer has achieved great success in the music business throughout his illustrious career.

Alongside Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney, he is one of only three musicians to have sold more than 100 million records both individually and collectively. Collins, who was raised by creative parents and was born on January 30th, 1951 in London, England, was exposed to music at a young age.

His distinctive sound was created when, at the age of five, he acquired a homemade drum kit from his uncle that included tambourines, triangles, cymbals, and small drums.

Essential bands like The Shadows led the way as the English beat scene started to emerge. Collins would later lead this movement and frequently play social events thrown by his parents’ boating club.

At the tender age of fourteen, Collins was exposed to rock and roll and was moved to buy a record player and Please Please Me by The Beatles. He’d put the record player on loud and play the drums in front of a mirror so he didn’t have to look at what he was doing.

In order to learn how to read drum music, which was necessary if one wanted to work in a dance band or orchestra pit, he decided to take drum lessons from a tutor. Collins realized right away, though, that playing intuitively was far superior to reading music.

When Collin came across a Genesis drummer job listing in the 1970s, his life took an astounding turn. Collins contacted them, and they welcomed him on board, starting his illustrious musical career.

Many of the songs on The Beatles’ five studio albums went on to become timeless classics that we still adore. Due to a dearth of suitable candidates, Collins quickly took over as the band’s lead singer.

Although it took him some time to get used to playing the drums and singing at the same time, he persisted and eventually made himself known as one of the best musicians of our time.

As a member of the legendary band Genesis and a solo artist, Collins enjoyed enormous success in the music industry. He rose to the top of the music business thanks to hits like “I Don’t Care Anymore,” “In The Air Tonight,” and “You Can’t Hurry Love.”.

After 25 years with Genesis, Collins made the decision to change his musical direction and concentrate on jazz projects, movie music, and his solo career. Though he expressed his hope for his former bandmates’ successful futures, when 2017 arrived he decided to reteam with them for their Last Domino world tour.

Sadly, the pandemic forced the cancellation of this tour, and right before it started, Phil gave an interview to BBC Breakfast, which prompted some worry about his health. Despite this setback, the band intends to reunite and play live once more, with Nicholas Collins on drums replacing him and Phil taking over the vocals.

Although Nic is an excellent drummer, Tony Banks claimed that he could make the early Phil Collins songs even more powerful than they already are.

The response Phil gave when asked why he wasn’t playing the drums anymore was, “I’d like to, but I can hardly grip a stick with this hand. Despite the difficulties it does present, Phil has not let physical limitations prevent him from pursuing his passion for music.

The storyteller, a man about our age, spoke with a palpable sense of loss as he described his physical struggles. He regretted that he was unable to travel with his son and share in his adventures.

He wasn’t yet sure if he wanted to carry on traveling due to his condition. His words gave off the impression that he had accepted the fact that some activities were now off-limits to him and he couldn’t participate in them.

He found it difficult and time-consuming to decide whether to keep traveling the same path or stop going on excursions. He understood that, whether by choice or physical necessity, he would eventually have to give up something he loved. He was overwhelmed by the thought of missing out on many opportunities in life as a result of this sudden change in circumstances, which made him feel very heavy.
